Hello My Loves!
I’m in the beautiful William & Carey International University up in Pasadena, Southern California with all the summer teams for Teach Overseas –Hungary, Vietnam, Cambodia, Russia and Kazakhstan. I’ve gotten really close with my teammate Bre for Budapest. We’re all currently bonding over Monster Cookie Ice Cream, knowing we’ll lose weight in the camps in the next month.
Training today was super intense. We spent over 6-8 hours learning how to teach, how to form lesson plans & executing practicums in the evening. Otherwise, we spent time bonding with our respective teams. Hungary consists of Russ, Ted, Tori, Kendra, Sam, Phoebs, Bre, Stephanie & me. We interact as an incredibly zany, energetic bunch. We always end up laughing at the end of the day, or dancing crazily on the walk back up to the dorms.
It’s so refreshing to start the day off with worship and devotionals, prayer throughout the day & fellowship at night. I’m getting excited and have planned some lessons ahead of time before my practicum tomorrow! I’m hoping for good observations, so pray for me!
Updates on Budapest refugees: so we found out today our camp would be mostly adult Syrian & Afghan men with a few women. Apparently, as we are there only for a month, they are incredibly eager to learn from us. (Also, many teachers get proposals from them…this should be interesting/awkward…) I’m still excited to meet my students, no matter their ages.
Almost ready for bed, but excited for a new day of training.
Please pray for:
~physical/spiritual/emotional health to do God’s will on this trip
~team unity and fellowship against spiritual attack
~open hearts of our students
~courage to keep on serving
~perseverance against loneliness when in the camps.
Hopefully will end the time in Pasadena with some swing dancing!
