“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.” ~1 John 4:7 ESV
Little tip for big joy here. I just wanted to give you all some encouragement to SHINE. You are God’s masterpieces, literally made up of the same stuff as STARS. You are alive at this moment for a specific purpose unique only to you. Crazy, right? On top of all that, the Creator of the entire universe loved you and sacrificed His one and only Son for all of us, but specifically each and everyone of us.
What the what. That is crazy love. However, that is exactly what God did, because He is the definition of love in every language, every movement and every breath. He simply is. Know God, and you will know love, guaranteed.
Even in your darkest nights, God’s love will shine in your life like daylight. I realized this last night, praying for those I care about (and those I don’t really care about at all). God uses what is meant for evil to accomplish all that is good. Every good and perfect thing comes from Him, no doubt about it.
Some of you might not agree. Some of you vehemently don’t agree with me. That’s fine. But, I truly believe that God exists and that He is a God of JOY.
That being said, I want to talk about how love is about shining forth Christ, though not necessarily taking a situation lightly. Love hurts, hurts terribly sometimes. God calls us to love even our enemies, which means we’re bound to be vulnerable. I believe C. S. Lewis puts it best.
“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”
― C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves
So shine forth, even if others complain. Love, even if others don’t accept it. Believe, even if you don’t feel “spiritual.” It’s not a matter of just saying words, it’s a matter of living your beliefs out loud.
